I’ve got a guess, but lets see if others have guesses before I ruin it.

  2. Mike says:

As I doubt I’m going to get any more “entries”, feel free to take your guess!

  3. Wholly Mindless says:

Then I have to go with the wrong external drive. The “Disk III” looked more like the built in drive. (with a beige “door”)

I had a link but it was insanely long to post here. But http://images.google.com can find one for you.

I’m surprised I don’t remember the /// from TRON. I’m going to have to check that out again in preparation for “Legacy” while praying that it doesn’t destroy my childhood memories.

  5. Mike says:

Yes, that would be it – that’s a Disk ][ drive, which doesn’t work on a /// without some work. The /// is only in TRON briefly, in the opening minutes of the movie.

  6. Wolfgang says:

Sorry guys but a Disk][ case is a possibility. In the beginning the Disk III was in the Disk][ case.
We would have to remove the Mug to be sure.

However the later Disk III drive had a different case

By the way a Disk ][ wuld not connect to a Disk III port of the Apple III but you can easy build a 1:1 connector to get limited functionality

  7. Mike says:

    @Wolfgang

You said: “In the beginning the Disk III was in the Disk][ case."

Proof please? I've never seen or heard of this.

"By the way a Disk ][ wuld not connect to a Disk III port of the Apple III but you can easy build a 1:1 connector to get limited functionality"

Yes, though in the context of the movie, this doesn't really make sense. Most likely, the prop department didn't have a Disk III available and simply put a Disk ][ next to the Apple III for this scene.

  8. Mike says:

Edit: I found a page that documents what you were talking about, Wolfgang – weird! Thanks for pointing out that bit of trivia.

I still stand by my comment, though.

  9. Wholly says:

Tuesday Trivia lasted until Sunday… with some surprise information too!

  10. Mike says:

Yep! Guess I’ll need to do more research for the next Tuesday Trivia. You guys are a tough crowd!

  11. Wholly says:

I had trouble believing it until I saw the picture and recognized the connectors. Nice find. I’d never seen that site before.
